Large FRP Vessel

Product Specifications: Our company can fabricate large containers ranging from DN4800 to DN25000mm with a holding volume ≤3000 cubic meters on-site.

Products Description

Large FRP vessels are engineered for corrosive, high-volume, long-term liquid storage where the tank itself is too large to fabricate off-site and deliver whole. As a GFRP storage tank supplier and field-erected fiberglass storage vessel manufacturer, we provide custom large-diameter FRP tanks fabricated using advanced filament winding and on-site construction technology, offering the same corrosion resistance and 20+ year service life as our standard tank lines — just at a scale standard shop fabrication can't reach.

Processing Technology: Large storage tanks are processed using either vertical or horizontal winding; our facility primarily uses vertical winding. Compared to horizontal winding, vertical winding solves two problems specific to large-diameter field erection: the tank cannot be wound as a full single piece with horizontal methods at this scale, and site space for horizontal winding is often insufficient. Vertical demolding also avoids inversion during demolding, which protects laminate integrity on a vessel this size — a detail that matters more as diameter increases.

Advantages: Solves the transportation-limit problem entirely, since the tank is never shipped as a finished unit. This is also why field-erected construction is inherently lower-risk on safety than comparable metal tank erection — the winding process is performed close to ground level without hot work.

Production Conditions: Large containers require the production equipment to be transported to the customer's site. To support field-erected fabrication, please confirm:

  • Sufficient container foundation for installation

  • Processing area >10m × 15m

  • Power interface at the edge of the processing area, voltage 380V/220V, power ≥30kW

  • Fire water source within 100m

When Do You Need a Field-Erected Large FRP Storage Tank?

Most shop-fabricated fiberglass storage vessels stop being transportable somewhere around 3.5–4.3 meters (roughly 12–14 ft) in diameter — beyond that, the tank simply can't move over public roads as a single piece without specialized (and expensive) oversized-load transport. This is the exact point where a large FRP storage tank shifts from "buy it built" to "build it on-site": as a field-erected FRP vessel, wound directly at your installation location rather than shipped as a finished unit.

Pipezy's large FRP vessel line starts at DN4800mm precisely because this is where shop fabrication stops making economic sense. As a GFRP storage tank supplier working at this scale, we send our winding equipment and crew to your site rather than asking you to solve a transport problem that field erection was built to eliminate.

Advantages of This Large FRP Storage Tank Line

  • No transport ceiling — capacity and diameter aren't limited by what can move over a road

  • Excellent corrosion resistance — suitable for acids, alkalis, saltwater, and aggressive chemical storage

  • Lightweight structure relative to steel — lower foundation loading than an equivalent steel field-erected tank

  • Low maintenance cost — no anti-corrosion coating required over the tank's service life

  • Long service life — typically exceeds 20 years

  • Custom engineering support — sized and detailed to your project rather than a fixed catalog range

Field-Erected Large Diameter FRP Tank Manufacturing

For tanks exceeding transportation limits, our engineers perform on-site filament winding to fabricate the tank directly at the installation location — enabling large-diameter fiberglass storage vessels up to 25 meters, a scale that simply isn't reachable through shop fabrication and delivery.

Benefits of on-site fabrication:

  • No transportation size limitations

  • Reduced installation time versus shipping and offloading a finished large vessel

  • Lower logistics costs — no oversized-load permits or specialized transport

  • Suitable for large industrial projects where a single big vessel is more practical than multiple smaller tanks

  • Ensured structural integrity through single-piece vertical winding rather than field-jointed sections

Applications of Large FRP Vessels

Our field-erected FRP storage vessels are used across:

  • Chemical storage tanks and acid/alkali storage

  • Wastewater treatment plants

  • Desalination facilities

  • Industrial process tanks

  • Power plant water storage

  • Mining and metallurgical industries

Engineering Service Scope

Every large FRP vessel project includes design drawings and technical consultation from our engineering team — covering tank sizing, resin selection, nozzle and flange configuration, and the customization options listed above. If your project has additional structural engineering requirements beyond this scope (such as project-specific foundation design or site-specific structural calculations), raise it with our team when you submit your project details so we can confirm what's included for your specific vessel and site conditions.

Quality Assurance for Field-Erected Vessels

Field-erected construction adds an inspection dimension that shop-fabricated tanks don't need: quality control has to happen on-site, in real time, rather than in a controlled factory environment.

  • Structural inspection at each winding stage, not only at final delivery

  • Resin quality verification under site conditions (temperature, humidity)

  • Dimensional accuracy checks against design tolerances

  • ISO quality manufacturing system carried through to field operations

  • Experienced engineering team present for the duration of on-site fabrication

Why Buyers Choose Pipezy for Field-Erected Large Storage Tanks

  • Capability to produce ultra-large diameter tanks (up to DN25000mm) that shop-fabricated suppliers simply cannot offer

  • On-site fabrication crews and equipment deployable to your project location

  • Vertical winding method built specifically to solve large-diameter site-space and demolding problems

  • Export experience supporting international field-erection projects

  • Engineering-led quoting — design drawings and technical consultation before you commit

International Field Construction: How We Support Overseas Projects

Field erection means the tank is built at your site, not ours — which raises an obvious question for international buyers: does that winding crew and equipment actually mobilize to your country, or does delivery stop at the port?

As a GFRP storage tank supplier serving projects outside China, mobilizing our equipment and technical team to the installation site is part of how we deliver large FRP vessels internationally, not just domestically. Because every country's site access, import procedures, and local labor availability are different, we work through the specific logistics with each international project individually rather than promising a one-size-fits-all process — this typically covers:

  • Coordinating equipment shipment and site delivery timing with your project schedule

  • Confirming which parts of on-site work are handled by our mobilized team versus your local civil contractor (particularly foundation work, which is normally executed by a local contractor to your site's engineering requirements)

  • Discussing remote technical support or supervision options for projects where full-time on-site presence needs to be scoped differently

If your project is outside China, tell us your country and site conditions early in the conversation so we can map out mobilization feasibility and timeline as part of your quote, rather than as a surprise after contract.

FAQ

Q: How long does on-site fabrication take for a large tank?
A: Timeline depends on diameter, capacity, and site conditions; once your production area and utility access meet our stated requirements, our team provides a project-specific schedule covering mobilization, winding, and commissioning.

Q: Do you provide structural engineering for wind and seismic loading?
A: Yes — large field-erected vessels require project-specific structural calculations, and our engineering team factors in your site's wind and seismic conditions as part of the design package.

Q: What site conditions do we need to prepare before your crew arrives?
A: A processing area exceeding 10m × 15m, an adequate tank foundation, a 380V/220V power interface rated ≥30kW at the edge of the processing area, and a fire water source within 100m — full details are listed above under Production Conditions.

Q: Is field-erected construction more expensive than shipping a finished tank?
A: For tanks within transportable diameter, shop fabrication is typically more economical. Past the transport threshold, field erection becomes the only practical option — and it avoids the oversized-load permitting and specialized transport costs that would otherwise apply.

Q: Can you supply documentation for large-tank compliance requirements?
A: Yes — structural inspection, resin quality verification, and dimensional accuracy reports are available; tell us which standard your project references (ASTM D3299, ASME RTP-1, BS4994) and we'll confirm documentation for your specific vessel.
