I. Project Overview


Project Name: Handan Power Plant Desulfurization Wastewater Zero Discharge Treatment System Project

Project Location: Handan City, Hebei Province

Core equipment: DN4200*20150 FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic) thickening tower

Services include: design, manufacturing, transportation, installation, and commissioning support for key equipment.

This project, undertaken by China Construction Environmental Energy Technology Co., Ltd., a leading domestic environmental protection company, aims to achieve efficient treatment and complete resource recovery of power plant desulfurization wastewater, reaching the environmental goal of "zero emissions." Hebei Weitong Fiberglass Co., Ltd., as a professional manufacturer of high-performance composite material equipment, successfully manufactured the core equipment of the system—the large-scale fiberglass thickening tower. Its superior product performance and technical services provided a solid foundation for the successful implementation of the project.


II. Core Challenges and Technological Requirements


Desulfurization wastewater is a difficult-to-treat wastewater with high salt content, high hardness, and strong corrosiveness, which places extremely high demands on the comprehensive performance of concentration equipment.


The "tall and slender" structure presents a challenge: the equipment has a total height of 20.15 meters and a diameter of 4.2 meters, resulting in a large height-to-diameter ratio. This poses a severe test to the overall rigidity, wind load resistance, and verticality control of the equipment.

Severe corrosive environment: Chloride ions, sulfate ions and various heavy metal ions in wastewater have extremely strong corrosive and permeable properties to equipment materials, requiring tower materials to have excellent corrosion resistance and anti-aging properties.

Long-term stable operation: As a core piece of equipment that operates continuously, it must be guaranteed to be safe and reliable for up to 20 years of design life, and to avoid unplanned downtime of the entire system due to problems such as equipment corrosion, leakage, and deformation.

Strict installation requirements: The verticality of equipment installation and the installation accuracy of tower internals (such as water distributors, packing supports, etc.) directly affect the system's concentration efficiency and energy consumption. The installation process must be precise and error-free.


III. Hebei Weitong Solutions


In response to the project's unique characteristics and technical challenges, Hebei Weitong provided a professional integrated solution:


Custom-designed structural structure:

Advanced computer-aided design (CAD) and finite element analysis (FEA) technologies were employed to precisely calculate and optimize the tower structure. Through scientific design of the number of winding layers and local reinforcement, the challenges of stiffness and stability in "tall and slender" tower structures were perfectly resolved, ensuring structural safety under various working conditions.


Top-tier corrosion-resistant material system:

The inner lining is made of high-quality vinyl ester resin , which has excellent high temperature resistance, resistance to mixed acid and alkali corrosion and low permeability, providing the first and most critical protective barrier for the equipment.


The structural layer uses alkali-free glass fiber and a high-performance isophthalic/vinyl resin system, and is precisely wound by a computer-controlled winding machine to ensure uniform thickness and accurate resin content, so that the tower body has both high strength, high rigidity and excellent corrosion fatigue resistance.


Precision manufacturing and quality control:

The segmented winding molding process, used in a constant temperature workshop, ensures the manufacturing precision of ultra-large products.

We strictly implement the ISO9001 quality management system and conduct rigorous testing at every stage, from raw material warehousing to finished product delivery, including resin curing degree, Barcol hardness, wall thickness, and non-destructive testing, to ensure zero defects in product quality.


Professional transportation and installation guidance:

Develop a comprehensive transportation plan to ensure that large equipment arrives at the project site safely in sections.

An experienced engineering team was dispatched to provide on-site installation guidance. High-precision instruments were used for measurement and calibration to ensure that the tower sections were accurately connected and that the overall verticality fully met the design requirements, thus ensuring a perfect connection with the system pipelines.


IV. Project Outcomes and Value


Successful commissioning: The DN4200 fiberglass thickening tower has been successfully installed and is operating stably at the Handan project site. All performance indicators have met or exceeded design expectations, and it has received high praise from the general contractor, China Construction Environmental Energy, and the owner.

High efficiency and stability: The equipment's excellent corrosion resistance fundamentally eliminates the risk of corrosion and leakage. Its high-precision manufacturing and installation ensure the system's high efficiency and low energy consumption, greatly reducing customers' maintenance costs.
